4.5

4.5 because I'm being picky. The only reason it got that .5 star removed was because I didn't fully buy
Frances and Nick's
relationship. But this is a common theme with Sally Rooney is that there's a lot left unsaid and as we've seen with Normal People, you can see the relationship much more deeply on screen than on the pages. So that part is lacking... I guess I still don't understand why they love each other. Anyways, the entire book I was just thinking about how I am like 70% of Frances' good qualities and 30% of Bobbie's overall personality. Add up that math and I think that's me. As always, Sally Rooney does a really good job at talking about privilege and class, that's always really good, and I liked seeing Marianne pop up too. It was so easy to devour- the only thing was that I still don't understand why those two love each other, but, I also can't tell if that's part of the point.
