couldn’t put this one down either tbh but the ending was anti climatic, wrapped up a little too well and easy. was expecting more from this book but still a page turner :)
This was one of the rare books where I like all of the main characters. Evangeline, despite the fact that she makes terrible decisions every time, is such an easily trusting and hopeful person that I just look past all of her flaws. And jacks clearly has a lot of issues too lol.
As much as I liked the characters, this book left so many unanswered questions and plot points from the rest of the series. And the ending took so long to get to!! Maybe I was just feeling rushed but it was actually irritating me how long it was taking.
Despite all its flaws, Stephanie garber is great at creating books that feel like modern fairy tales so I still loved it. Would’ve been 5 stars if apollo

Did I enjoy it? Kinda. Was it the best of the trilogy? No. Was the pay-off from the slow burn good/worth it? Tragically not quite. I don’t really know what I was expecting from this book - it wrapped up the story nicely, but the second book was the best in this trilogy. Did the characters start annoying me? Yes, all of them.
Am I finally free of the shackles that are these books? Yes, fucking finally.

I loved every word, plot and action in this beautiful story. I was amazed by Eva, and I fell in love with Jax. The best fantasy novel I have ever read in my life. It made me return to the world of books.
