As the story progressed, it became clearer and clearer that Cat suffered from PTSD due to the torture, abuse and horrors of her past, and with that she still carries a host of related self worth issues. We as readers are inundated with reminders of how wildly special she is, however, she is somehow not *special* enough to outsmart her captors? Just smart enough to get boned?
Beta Sinta is a self-centric machismo fuckboy who found something sexy and shiny he had to have, more than an entire complicated human person with wants needs and problems of her own. An impressively and truly toxic combo. Finished the book with prejudice, and wished I hadn’t. Because then my curious and completionist brain wanted to try book 2. (See rant review)
And oh my god. It does get worse. Cannot recommend.
