A bit weird, a bit quirky (but not annoyingly so), a bit funny, a bit sad. At times it reminded me of [b:John Dies at the End|1857440|John Dies at the End (John Dies at the End, #1)|David Wong|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1189289716s/1857440.jpg|1858059] in its chaotic moments. A good read that fortunately doesn't outstay its welcome.

i feel misled by the description of this book. the prologue promised a whole lot of body horror and some nasty zombie gore, but what i got was a peculiar stream-of-consciousness narrative that faltered in terms of weirdness. the interlocking plots would have been much more solid as their own short stories instead of being linked together in a hasty bow at the end. only bumped up from one star because of charlie and mitchie.

Short, strange horror novella. Extremely captivating, I found the choppy writing style perfect for this book. The vibe of this book is so unique. I've never read anything like it.

not a bad book, enjoyed
finding the little messages from elizabeth throughout the book
, but it was kinda disjointed at first. had to reread the first few parts several times to make sense of the plot and connections.

This is quite possibly the most bizarre and frequently disturbing books ever... also in a twisted way one of the most delightful. I'm not sure how to describe it other than to say it follows 3 different stories, each featuring a mother/daughter element with varying degrees of perverseness. Each is also, at least on some level, totally surreal. Although I've never read the series that actually bears the name, I would also venture to say this one is probably more deserving of the title A Series of Unfortunate Events. It begins with a brief but disturbing 3-part prologue, then quickly begins the downward spiral to what is quite likely the most unexpected and alarming ending I have personally ever encountered. It seems odd to say, but the story is also filled with humor... the sort of humor that makes you hate yourself a little for finding the things you're reading funny. I really liked this book an awful lot.

a quick read. The writing is kind of choppy and abrupt, which im sure is a stylistic choice. The horror elements were intriguing concepts i wish were explored more deeply and actually built up as a horror. As it was, the narration and its attempts at humor undermined any tension the situations characters found themselves in called for. Mostly, the book was mysterious because it was so short and left the happenings unexplained and unresolved. In the end, i did find it bittersweet and it left me a bit sad and contemplative. im not one for short stories typically so maybe that contributed to my lower opinion but i dont regret reading, but i also wouldn't recommend to anyone who isnt specifically asking for short story (or, a novella technically i suppose) recommendations from me.

The most positive thing I can say about the book is that it is a quick read. But it felt quite disjointed to me.
The use of animal and child death felt like a cheap jump scare tactic rather than it meaning anything so I did not appreciate it.

I didn't really like the writing style of this book. There were too many short and choppy sentences, and way too many unanswered questions!
The cover of this book is much cooler than its contents.
