A series of three books all wrapped up into a not-so small package of 732 pages... and it wasn't half bad. Not as good as some of Smith's other books, but good enough to hold its own in the book world.
Out of the three, I would have to say that the third book, "The Passion," would be my favorite. The second one, "The Possessed" was almost painfully predictable, and so it wasn't my favorite.
I sped-read through the first book, "The Strange Power," because I was hooked from the first line. As for "The POssessed," I found myself wincing when my prediction turned out to be right. It almost made me want to put the book down and stop. But I'm glad I didn't. "The Passion" was unpredictable and kept me guessing even as I went to bed.
The "other" characters, the ones who came before Kait & co., were actually pretty insane, and their actions funny, which kept it lighthearted... albeit a little cheesy and childish.
The ending was... grand. A perfect closure.

this book is amazing. i do have a few ? thought like why didnt anna and lewis go out and gamriel cood have found someone and does joyce die ???????
Of all the ESP books that I've read, this is the one that got me REALLY hooked on!
Kaitlyn Fairchild has always had the ability of foresight-through-art since she was small. She has been hated because of her "witch eyes" and her abilities. When she is finally offered the chance to escape this oppression and go to California to the Zetes Institute to somehow help her manage her abilites, Kait readily agrees.
When she arrives, she meets her fellow classmates; Anna, Lewis, Rob, and Gabriel. Falling immediately for Rob the Golden-Boy-who-doesn't-seem-to-realize-how-hot-he-is, Kait is also intrigued by the mysterious and seclusive Gabriel the Dark Wolfe. What secrets is he hiding?
Through a series of even more mysterious events, Kait answers that question, and uncovers a horrifying truth about the Zetes Institute that causes her and her new friends to flee and seek refuge and meet the people who have the power to help them...
Then, through another series of events, Gabriel decides, and leaves Kait (and her questionable feelings about Gabriel and Rob) behind...
Kait is about to discover that the boy whom she thought she abhorred is actually her soulmate. Kait finally finds someone who loves her for herself, who is not afraid of her abilities, and who is willing to spend their entire life with her. Kait is finally able to appreciate her power.
I honestly wish more books were like this. Romance, ESP, and action are all equally balanced in this book of wonders.
