I really liked the set of characters and the premise. But I think it would’ve been better if it hadn’t been so dark. For example, I would’ve preferred
Helena and Ciara to get a chance to not just be evil.

after i got over the hurdle of switching povs, i really fell into the rhythm of the story

i loved these characters, bar one of course. i really enjoyed them together and seeing their sisterly bond.

the magic system was also so interesting to get into! i liked the lore that made this magic it's own thing, and the reliance on nature was a lovely aspect that gets any magic system points from me!

this did feel like a very direct response to joanne revealing herself as a terf, and i revelled in that! very very enjoyable to me!

Couldn't relate to the characters. They're all thirthy-somethings and some already have teenagers! Plus they're all traumatized by some previous war and the deaths that came with it. The plot is also slow going, and doesn't seem to get started. Maybe I'll be more able to relate in ten years.

This book is fantastic

Identity politics and why it is so important are explained through a world different, but also scarily similar to our  own, which  is what makes it message so  powerful. This is the Harry Potter generation shooting a few messages loud and clear and also with no small wit. Don’t be fooled ɓy the pretty pinķ cover, this novel is not a fluffy read. The message contained within are to important. Definitely not for kids either, just in case you were wondering.
