Normalerweise lese ich Bücher lieber/eher auf Englisch, allerdings muss ich bei Kafkas Werken eine Ausnahme machen. Die Verwandlung ist wohl das bekannteste Werk des Prager Autors und auch, meiner nicht bescheidenen Meinung nach, eines seiner Besten. Wieder ein Fall der Bücher, welche einfach zu lesen sind, aber schwer zu verstehen bzw. zu deuten. Allerdings gefällt es mir besonders, dass die Geschichte, Gregor Samsas Verwandlung, auf so unterschiedliche Art und Weise interpretiert werden kann. Ich persönlich verbinde Gregors Zustand mit dem Kafkas, welcher sich ebenso eingeengt und bedrückt fühlte. Auch die Kritik am Kapitalismus ist für mich offensichtlich und allgegenwärtig. 
Was soll man insgesamt zu dem Werk sagen? Ein literarisches Meisterwerk, welches jeder mindestens einmal im Leben gelesen haben sollte. Bravo.

I gave it only 3 stars because the plot itself wasn't too engaging. But it will haunt you afterwards because it says a lot about our inevitable condition of human nature .

not my type of genre, i thought the book would have been more about the experiences of a bug itself. the ending caught me off guard, as if the family wanted to forget him after all he has done for them, just because he turned into a bug.

but perhaps i am not artistic enough for books as such, but its a pass for me
