4,5 stars. This book shows that Dutch writers also can write sci-fi in a good way! This is a really good book and the story is pretty good. I also like the writing style (:

Solid entertainment that I will recommend to students. It's an easy entry to thrillers and crime and has a good pace.

Man, this book gave me nightmares! Don't combine this book with lack of sleep and unfamiliar environments; weird things will happen.

I read this book in two days, and I would have read it in one go if I hadn't had to get up at 6am the next day. It's super immersive and it made me super paranoid. Read at your own risk.

A boy wakes up in the middle of nowhere. He can't remember who he is, where he's from or why he's there. He has a backpack with a couple of items, including a cell phone. There's a voicemail waiting for him. It tells him not to call the cops, and the voice of the caller is his own.

This book follows Boy Seven (as he calls himself) and his journey towards discovering who he is and why he can't remember anything. Overall a pretty entertaining read. The pacing was a bit slow towards the middle; you find out a lot but the way the information is delivered is pretty monotone. There are attempts to impart some sense of urgency while you're reading through this part but they fall a bit flat.

Even though the characters are in their teens I'm not sure I'd describe it as YA. It reads more like middle grade to me.
