I fell in love with Hanger's Horsemen in the first book. And my favorite was definitely quite stoic Jonah. Needless to say, when I discovered book 2 was going to be his AND Mark's story I was thrilled, but still hesitant. Would it be as good as book one? Would he get a good story?

the answer is a resounding 100% yes!

this book has earned my FIRST 5 star review of the year. It brought tears to my eyes because it pulled me in and tugged my heart strings. Jonah's story was phenomenal and Mark's was too, but I just really really love JOnah.

Eliza and Katherine's devotion to the children just warmed my heart. And the episode where little Abner describes how Katherine chose him just made me teary.

this one was a case where an already excellent series gets better with the next book! I don't know how [a:Karen Witemeyer|3114906|Karen Witemeyer|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1478186513p2/3114906.jpg] is going to best this one with Luke's story, but I eagerly await it. I predict a dainty gal for that big old bear!

Enjoyed this second book in the Hanger’s Horsemen series! Karen Witemeyer has a way of writing a stirring action packed story with sympathetic well rounded characters whom you instantly want to see succeed.

This story focuses on two of the Hanger Horse men, Mark and Jonah. While delivering a steed, they encounter a woman who is in labor. After recently losing her husband, she wants nothing to do with the little girl Mark helps deliver. Mark instantly forms a bond with the infant and vows to see her placed in a home that will give her the care and love she deserves. He and Jonah are directed to Harmony House. Little does Mark realize he will run into the woman whom he nearly married 10 years ago.

Helping to run Harmony House is Eliza, a woman who feels the societal sting at the time of not only being illegitimate but of mixed race as well. When she meets the intriguing Jonah, she begins to question whether her choice to remain unattached is really what she wants. When children begin to disappear from the town, both men decide to stay on to not only solve the mystery of the missing children but also explore a relationship with the women they’re beginning to fall for.

I listened to the audiobook version of the story. Whether or not a narrator is good is completely at the discretion of the listener. That said, I found that while I enjoyed the story, I didn’t necessarily love the narrator. I felt like her voice didn’t match up to the characters. I think I would have enjoyed the story even more if I had read it rather than listened to it.

I enjoyed the diverse characters, the romance, and the mystery. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed the second book in this series! I loved the characters! Eliza and Jonah as well as Mark and Katherine were so sweet together.💗
I loved all the children in this story! I admired Eliza and Katherine so much for taking care of those sweet babies.💗

There was plenty of action and suspense that made this one hard to put down!

In conclusion, another one of Karen Witemeyer’s books that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Once I finally finished this book, I genuinely liked it a lot. The story was good and flowed nicely (i don’t know why I put it down for so long!). I loved both romances, and the cast of characters was great. I didn’t see the end coming at all until it was in my face which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Great story. I loved the twists that I never saw coming until we were supposed to.

While I did enjoy Mark's and Jonah's story, there was a part of me that wished they weren't together. Having both cut 'seeing' the romance, so that it felt like the romances happened more where we didn't read, especially in the case of Mark and Kate. I felt their romance was more in their past and the rekindled felt rushed.

Another issue I had was, I felt this book ended abruptly. I would have enjoyed an epilogue to kind of tie things up a bit, especially where Sarah/Lacy was concerned - I do know that this wasn't a major plot, but I would have liked to see how to resolved as it wasn't necessarily left set in stone.

Overall this was a great continuation of the series.

Ooh, oooh, ooh!

I've been longing for the next Hanger's Horsemen book for a while now and finally, it's here!

I loved getting to see two main couples' points of view. It really made The Heart's Charge unique and gave si much more to the story, however, there were many backstory things they were spoken of and they were only used as back story and I would have liked to see a bit of reconciliation in at least one of them though I understood why one was impossible with the choices of the father.

My only wish was that the whole of the Horsemen would have been together more.

References to prostitution, a word associated with a prostituted child, and other like mentions, And a few other things so I would recommend 18+ read this.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
