absolutely beautiful piece of art. this book started out rough, and reading it in the airport while people crowd around me was not ideal for the situations in the book. i started off disgusted, and concerned about being able to finish this book. but this book is so much more than its beginning. it’s celies relationship with shug, it’s the friendship that develops between celie and albert, it’s a heartbreaking story of sisterhood, it’s everything in between. this story is beautiful, and one that has moved millions. a new favorite of mine. the color purple was truly eye opening, and an amazing read.
