This book had me in a chokehold and it never let me go. I was locked in and was even more locked in right after Cece got into a brawl on her first day back. All the characters had quirks that had me cackling. I was so invested in the side characters and I honestly can't wait for their books, especially Ginger's. ALSO THE GROVELING...when she had him crawling to her, GOD BLESS.

Solid 3 star read. A few grammatical errors in the ebook that could be corrected. Also the MMC said “berry” to refer to her clit so that was…cringe but I kept reading and it wasn’t bad overall 🤷🏼♀️

It follows Cece, who moves back home to small town Kentucky after a difficult break-up and starts putting the pieces of her life back together. Yes it’s a little cringey at times, but aren’t they all? This is a fun time. I love the characters. I love the town. I love the storyline. I love a man who yearns.

A kinda cowboy, hockey, brothers best friend romance. Nash was a bit of everything people like in a romance book; tortured but kind-hearted and helpful. CeCe was strong willed, intelligent and kind. I liked the back and forth between the two of them alongside the moments being vulnerable and open with each other. Although it started as a fling, they still treated each other respectfully and there was good chemistry between the two.
I liked the small town setting and the closeness of the Ashby family and the strong friendships. I thought it was nice that even though her father had passed away, he was included in the book in a way that felt genuine.
Hated Andrew and parts of that storyline, especially with how forced it felt.
It did follow a pretty formulaic pattern in regard to plot but was enjoyable nonetheless.

This novel was pitched as a cowboy romance. But....I had trouble finding the cowboy part. It's an alpha male who is an ex-hockey player. This book had a slow start for me. But by the 50% mark it's pure spicy for those that enjoy that. However the spice was a bit of a turn off for me. I'm really not into men who repeatedly call their lover a "C U next Tuesday". The male main character raised red flags for me. I also wasn't into the the idea that he's so huge that he barely fits which was referenced constantly during the last half of the book.
So while this book wasn't bad, it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea unless they really like romance novels with alpha males.

Cece comes back to her hometown after discovering her fiancé is cheating and decides to put down roots. Nash is her brothers’ best friend and childhood crush. He’s the town player, works in a bar, retired hockey player.
There’s a lot of animosity between them at first, but once they get together they’re obsessed with each other. The spice really amps up. At one point, he crawls to her.
It’s first person, dual POV, open door spice.
I would say that if you like the Rebel Blue ranch series by Lyla Sage, you should check this one out.
The only thing I didn’t love is how the main women speak about other women. Pretty regularly they’d be calling women sluts/tramps/etc. and it felt icky.
I’m still looking forward to Ginger and Cole’s book. 👀
