The idea of this book was so interesting but it was confusing in execution for me. While the magic system was different and cool it wasn’t explained very well. I’m fine not knowing the whole story/lore right away and having it all unfold throughout but this felt like nothing and then everything all at once near the end. The two MC didn’t have much chemistry to me and I was not invested in their relationship much at all. Parts were predictable but I did get surprised a couple of things.
I’m on the fence if I will actually read the second book as of now.

I'd heard a lot of talk about this book a while ago, so I thought I'd give it a chance. The first half of it frustrated me because of the lack of information given to Red. It felt like it took a while for things to start happening. The second half of the book kept me enthralled and makes me want to read the next one. I like how the story mixes different fairy tales, like Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast, without feeling cliche or like it's trying to include too much of each. The worldbuilding is unique. The narration could get repetitive at times. Overall I enjoyed the story and want to know what happens next.

I’m for the Wolf, fr fr.

For the few pages that Red and Eammon got some fucking peace and were happy and in love, I almost closed the book! The end! All happy, that’s it!

If Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast had the political intrigue of Throne of Glass/ACOTAR, you’d have For the Wolf. I loved Redarys immediately - she fights through her fear with stubborn anger and doesn’t let anyone push her around.

Unfortunately, i can’t say the same for her sister. Neverah ANNOYED ME, and that’s the only reason I’m hesitating to pick up the second book. Also,
what was with Raffe’s attitude at the end towards Red?? Have some respect for Goddess Lady Wolf please.

I thought the writing was great, the pace was perfect, and I was anxious when Red and Eammon were apart - got really attached to them! Nothing negative to say about the book, I’m for the Wolf!!

Really didn't care much for this. It seems like there was more story in the interludes than there was in the "main" part, and Neve was more of a heroine than Red could ever dream of being.

There were a whole bunch of things that didn't quite make sense to me such as Eamon swearing "Kings" which didn't really have its place seeing they were just a bunch of random people to him, not actual gods. The desperate need of the people (as a whole) in the forest city to escape also didn't have its place because they had more than everything they needed to not just survive but actually thrive.

Overall, to me it felt like the author had a good idea, but failed to deliver. It would have been interesting to see Red learn to exist, to not have to consider the expiration date on her life, and maybe to see some real relationship grow between her and the Wolf. As it was, it felt very forced.

Dunno. Maybe it's just me, but this one feels like a flop.

I was immediately intrigued by this book, but it took me a bit to make sense of the world-building, magic, and history. I noticed that it took me much longer to read these pages, and I'm not sure if that was because I was just trying to make sense of it all or if the writing was actually confusing at times. There was also a whole scene/chapter that I think could've been cut from the book, as it didn't seem to serve a larger purpose and just slowed down the pace of the story. While this was not a perfect book, I still found myself drawn to it and was enthralled in the end. Some lines were so good that I went back to reread them and even read them aloud to my husband. Whitten is talented, and I want to read more from her. I'm glad I don't have to leave this world she created quite yet.
