Predictable & clichéd. Characters are wooden & poorly (barely) fleshed out. MC is sickly sweet. To an extent this fits with the story but the foreshadowing generated by her thoughts & behaviour is just muddled. I finished it just to confirm what I already knew, but I wasn’t overly fussed by the unexplained “mysteries” (obvious next-episode prep). After I’d let my impressions brew overnight I realised it felt like the book had been written as a standard formulaic police procedural then, on realising the tale was fairly ordinary, the chapters were shuffled & several plots shoe-horned in, in an attempt to rescue the effort.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns that come in this book - it had me hooked from the start and kept me turning the pages the whole way through!

It feels like a typical boy and girl have perfect life - something happens that makes girl question her whole life with boy and THEN the twists happen and personally I didn’t see them coming!

This book is written for the most part flicking between two different perspectives of the story with a 3rd appearing now and again so if you don’t enjoy a book that is told from different characters it’s maybe not for you.

Beth Hardcastle has a seemingly perfect life in a small village in England, where she lives with her husband and young daughter. Having left London behind for the suburbs, she run a pottery shop and cafe and (thinks) she has a wonderful marriage, until her husband Tom is taken in for questioning about the disappearance of a former girlfriend. As her life starts to unravel, Beth questions just how well she really knows her husband and her neighbors.

I did enjoy the story being told from multiple points of view, but I found this book less and less believable and interesting the further on I read. There were a few interesting twists, but they felt predictable and I found the main character very unlikable the more I got to know her.

To say I devoured this book is an understatement, I was pulled in from the start, I loved how everything unfolded and though I knew there was a twist coming I didn’t see it exactly.
What a nice read
