This one took quite some time to finish and I think it was mostly due to how macabre it was for me. At one point it seemed like there wouldn’t be any humans left to finish the plot 🙃

The ending also seemed anticlimactic 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hopefully, the Shades Of Magic trilogy is more to my taste.

A really solid ending to a really solid duology! I have to say the thing I loved the most about this book was definitely the world - it's such a fascinating concept and it was executed really well. In all honesty, I do think the end was a bit abrupt and it almost good have been dragged out into a trilogy to increase the intensity.

I was really sad we never got any resolution with Kate and her friends back in Propensity. All in all, it's not my favourite book by Victoria but definitely still a solid and enjoyable read.

3.5 rounded up!

This book ripped out heart. I'm still recovering.

I both loved this book and hated it.

This book was darker than the first one. And so much more fun.

What I loved: Ilsa and Sloan and Alice.
I basically loved all the Flynns but Ilsa, Ilsa was this sweet unexpected whimsical character. The way she communicated with her eyes..
Spoiler When she shattered so did my heart. Yeah I know I sound dramatic...but it was such a dramatic moment

Sloan and Alice are such cool monsters. They're vicious and snarky and smart. They're kind of generic clever villains but they were so enjoyable.

Is it weird that I loved August but also found him whiny. Like no that's my child please don't hurt him but also wanting to scream at him for whining?

Kate. Oh Kate. I find her so annoying. Why is she such a such a special snowflake. Please tell me why no else besides her could resist the monster? She's human like the rest of them.. If there were any proper explanation to this I'd have it but no. Also seriously why does is she the only one that uses her brain? I liked her friends in Prosperity...I feel like she was being overly dramatic by not actually being friends with them.
Spoiler But her dying. That scene. It was so emotional

Also there's Non-binary character! I've literally never come across such a character. They were a Sunai.

Victoria Schwab's writing style is to die for. I have a crush on the way she writes. Is that weird? She literally creates art with each word
