I admit I initially picked up this book because I loved the cover, but oh the story is so beautiful too! Kimberley Freeman is fast becoming a favorite author! Synopsis: Evergreen Falls takes place in 1926 Australia at the grand Evergreen Spa Hotel where Violet Armstrong, a naive waitress becomes entangled in a love affair with wealthy Sam Honeychurch-Black, who has issues of his own. A violent snowstorm traps the glittering guests and a tragic secret unfolds! In 2014, Lauren Beck takes a job at Evergreen Spa Hotel’s cafe where she discovers secret love letters and uncovers the tragic secrets of 1926. Unseen twists and characters that grab you in, loved it. Highly recommend! #books #bookstagram #bookreview #bookaholic #bookworm #readit

My least fav book by this author. I didn’t love the characters, didn’t care for the subject matter, and was disappointed.

Another good read from Kimberley Freeman. I related very strongly to her modern lead, Lauren, though for different reasons. I do wish her journey of finding herself was a bit more explored as it seemed as tied to her brother as her life before the novel began was.

Two women, both searching for their place in this world - one hotel, 92 years apart. Right from the prologue you are fully immersed into a tragedy for whom you do not yet know, their impact not yet important, the story yet to unfold. Right from the outset, this story invites you to check into Sydney Evergreen Falls. I was swept away during my time here, I found the story held me in its grips, right from the prologue. These characters within these pages really bought this story to life. Whilst reading, the characters and this world were being painted in my mind. As the story progressed, I felt as if situations the characters were involved in or found themselves in highly realistic for the time period. This attention to detail and use of a non-linear narrative only added to my enjoyment of Kimberley Freeman's 2014 novel, Evergreen Falls. I feel as the reader, anyone who comes across this book will find a character they connect with and perhaps a character they don't connect with as easily. I felt as if I knew certain pathways this story would take; that being said I didn't know exactly to whom or how those events would take place. Although I have a better understanding of events in 2014 then I do in 1926 as I think we all do nowadays, I felt more invested in the Violet Armstrong sections of the story. I believe that is because I felt I could be a cheerleader for Violet. I just didn't feel this way when it comes to Lauren's story. I felt as if her story unraveled and was expected, rather than discovered making it harder for me to care about Lauren. I wasn't sold on the Thomas storyline here, I felt as if it was all too predictable. His part in the story almost came across as a “might as well” solution. To fix this storyline for me, Tony could've had a bigger part in and throughout this book. Even though this book ended on a high for me, I still wanted a clearer view of what happened after the story came to a close. I believe Evergreen Falls will be enjoyable for those who enjoy Historical Fiction, Romance and Mystery, told within a non-linear style of writing.

I enjoyed this.

The dual story, the messages in the story, all of it. It was just a delight to read.
