The premise for this story had such promise: a woman finds her name on a list of wealthy, eligible ladies to be courted so second sons know who to 'target' when courting. USING 'TARGET' IN THE LOOSEST WAY - the intention of the list was innocent-ish and no one was supposed to try and con these women, just maybe pay them some extra focus.

The writing felt a little immature - we were not really in either character's mind enough to understand their intentions so the story read very stilted between one action and the next. I didn't believe the romance - in the first few chapters I had such hope for the way their romance would flow but it was a little too sudden to be believable. I think this book and story could benefit from a bit more editing and definitely some expansion. As with the first book I've read from this author - Mr. Malcom's List - I found the plot, storyline, and characters all wonderful! It just needs more tuning and tweaking in order to be a novel I'd want to revisit.
