This was my first time reading something by Joanna Reeder, and holy crap, it did not disappoint. The world building is exquisite; I loved the whole premise of a competition to become the bride and mate of a Fae prince. And adding a fake contestant to act as the king’s spy? Absolutely brilliant. Amberle, the heroine, has had a hard life ever since her father was imprisoned. Seventy years later, she thieves in order to survive. But when she is called on to become a participant in Prince Orion’s bride trials, everything changes for her.

Amberle was fierce and capable, intelligent and brave. I loved the way she used her cunning to accomplish what she needed to do, and I loved that she was kindhearted as well. As for Rion, the prince, I loved him as well. He seems like his heart is in the right place, and I loved the fact that he wants to marry for love. Rion and Amberle’s fiery chemistry was tangible. I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops. Reeder definitely has me hooked; I read CFTaC in three straight hours. I can’t wait to see what happens next, and I definitely recommend!!!

This story follows Amberle, a star fae who is half fae and half human. Amberle’s father was imprisoned seventy years ago the last time there was a Tourney. There is a new Consort Tourney occurring that has fifteen females enter to have the chance of winning and becoming the crown prince’s wife and mate and becoming High Queen Consort. Amberle never thought she’d be invited being a “halfling”. However, She does receive an invitation, and then a personal visit from the High King himself tasking her to be his spy to make sure the one his son chooses has good intentions, and not evil and in return he will release her father. Thus, Amberle is thrown back into a world her and her father left years ago amongst the court who despise her being a star fae and who has to pretend to win the prince’s heart in order to stay in the trials to get her father back.

This was such an enjoyable read for me! I actually am not a huge fan of books with competitions, or court intrigue, but by gosh I loved this book! I really have a hard time reading books with court intrigue because people are the worst and are just jerks, but the way the story flows in this book, I could look past these pompous fools and enjoy Amberle’s story and adventure through the court. There’s secrets, betrayals, and even murder!?

Courting Fae Thieves and Crowns is book one in the Fae Thieves and Crowns series by Joanna Reeder and happens to take place 200yrs before Aria and Carys story from The Raven Court series. This book is an enemies/past friends to lovers meets The Bachelor where 15 female fae compete for the chance to become Prince Orion's mate and future Queen. It has magic, trials, deceit, murder, mystery and curses. I highly recommend reading this book (and book two when it comes out) if you're up for an adventure and a Fae mystery. I can't wait to read book two.

I can’t wait to read the next one! This book is fae meets the bachelor which is surprisingly a great mix. My one critique is I wish there was more world building/lore explained. I have a lot of questions about her past, her father, and her life as a thief. I’m hoping the second book reveals more answers.

A quick read, which I enjoyed. Not super deep, but fun. The bachelor+magic fairies. Looking forward to the sequel.

This was jaw-droppingly amazing. I loved every single bit of it. The world building was immaculate. The whole competition to become the prince's bride was fun, and I loved the whole fake contestant as a spy thing. The chemistry between Amberle and Rion was explosive and amazing. Honestly I got The Selection meets The Bachelor meets Throne of Glass vibes. I can't wait to read the next one!

4.5 stars ⭐️ - Couldn't put it down! Intriguing, suspenseful bachelor-esque fantasy read!

“I am in turmoil at the one name I never expected to hear. At least not in connection with any type of future with me. Amberle Kindra. The silver-haired, iridescent-winged fae with the bluebell-colored eyes who always knew how to set my nerves on edge and create chaos that seeped straight to my bones.”

I was entranced by this book, flying through the pages to find out what happens next. Courting Fae Thieves and Crowns starts with a bang and continues the intrigue with twists and turns as the competition grows heated. Let’s just say some of those ladies' beauty is only on the outside. There are so many questions that I'm looking forward to having answered in the next book! Will they discover the truth surrounding the disappearance of Amberle’s father? How will the Tourney proceed and will the King truly allow Prince Orion to choose his bride?

✔️ Slow burn romance
✔️ Dual POV
✔️ Fae royalty
✔️ He falls first
✔️ Competition
✔️ Secrets & hidden pasts
✔️ Suspense

Definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a new fantasy read! Thanks to Book of Matches Media and Joanna Reeder for the ARC
