Lauren, why must you hurt me in this way??? This was one of those rare times I purposely started a book knowing it would hurt me, and still managing to read it all the way through. I even gave myself some time between finishing the main series and reading this side story, and the grief still hit me hard. Although, I'm impressed that this book could make me hate the king more than I already did, and burn with hatred over his need to be cruel purely for the sake of cruelty.

I cannot believe Lauren Roberts did that to us. My guess is Mak will be returning in Fearless, because why else would Lauren write an entire novella about him?

this book left me sobbing. it broke me and left me in ugly tears.
I knew how this story would end, but I made it so much more painful to read.
the pain of the characters is so really one can not do anything but read, hoping for a better ending. and is left behind torn into pieces 💔
the characters of Lauren Roberts are so vivid and well written. on has to fall in love with them, and that make the headache so much worse.
highly highly recommend the books of the author. she made it to my list of authors I will buy, not knowing anything about her upcoming works.
