Fair warning, this review applies only to the audio book. I don't think I would be as interested in reading this book, but hearing Sam and Graham go head to head on their trip and alternate takes on the same experiences was highly amusing. Worth it for the banter between the two of them alone. This was an especially fun book to listen to while road tripping myself.

I did the audiobook version which I think amplified to humor as well as the language and accents of Scotland. This was a beautiful depiction of friendship and history and how beautiful it is to learn about where we’re from. I loved the detailed history about Scotland and the clans and the humor as well!

Look - I want to give this book 4 stars, but I just didn’t feel as much Scotland history and culture as I would have liked. If I were only reviewing the audio version with Sam and Graham, with my appreciation for their work on Outlander and Men in Kiltz, then sure. But if you have not watched these shows I don’t think you will enjoy this book as much as I did. Still very entertaining on audio, but I would have been disappointed if I read it.

REALLY enjoyed this as an audiobook.

a pleasant tour of scotland, it was essentially a book version of the pair's show "men in kilts."

i listened to the audiobook which is how i would absolutely recommend experiencing this. graham and sam read it together, and i thought hearing it in their voices made for a more interesting experience than reading it in my own head.

i give three stars instead of four simply because of the frequency of references to outlander. i understand that's why a lot of folks will pick up the book, but it didn't add much to what was otherwise a delightful buddy comedy travelogue.

Audio book is the way to go!! 10 out of 10

Highly recommend the audio book of this!! A must for any Outlander fan

As much as I adore both Heughan's and McTavish's accents (the true reason I went for the audiobook, and the real draw as eye candy), the language and occasional subject matter eventually got off-putting enough to DNF the read/listen. Not entirely surprised, after listening to Heughan's memoir [b:Waypoints: My Scottish Journey|60617136|Waypoints My Scottish Journey|Sam Heughan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1660589855l/60617136._SY75_.jpg|95548400] (a glorious listen accent-wise, but also suffering from language/content issues for me personally), but a red-blooded female lives in hope. #justbeinghonest
