Fascinating history, interesting stories from behind the scenes on Outlander and other films, moving memoir, and A++ hilarious banter between Sam and Graham.

It's so no surprise that I'm an Outlander fan. I love the show and started reading the book series this year (finished book 5). I follow Graham McTavish and Sam Heughan on Instagram. They are funny and heartwarming and Graham gives great book recommendations.

The book was no different. It was hilarious and informative and wonderful and made me want to travel to the Highlands even more. In fact, we have a Scotland coastal road trip not officially planned in the future. This gave me new places to add to the list. I loved the history they detailed throughout the book, which made this book even better. I couldn't get enough. I loved that the book was separated out into each of their thoughts and perspectives on things and then it was hilarious to have one of them interject their own thoughts into the other's section. I loved it. I loved their banter. I also loved their "And now for something completely different" sections where I learned Gaelic and Graham's grievances (which match a lot of mine).

I gave it 4 stars, because there was repetitive information, especially when it came to the Outlander show. And sometimes, one would kind of go off on a tangent for some time about something that may or may not have been relevant to the original topic or place of visit. Sometimes, their banter got a bit much and they ended up missing out on things like the sunset kayak trip, which made me sad.

I'm so glad I decided to buy this book. It was definitely worth it, especially if you love history, travel, and whiskey...oh the whiskey. I need to get a hip flask.

Found it irritating and boring. The parts about Scottish history were interesting, but probably not the best source to learn from

It lost a star because honestly, a fair amount of it was just repeat conversation from their "Men in Kilts" show - or vice versa? They really doubled down for profit. It would've been nice to see the trip maybe half in the show and half in the book, or done in two separate trips. Otherwise, it was a great read. There was just enough history to educate the reader on highland culture, history, etc., however, not too much where it felt like reading a history book. It held my interest and I loved seeing the actors' personalities shine through on every page.

So much whisky is consumed in this book that you can get drunk just reading it.
