This was so much more fun then the last two (but especially than book 4). I really enjoyed it and absolutely devoured it in two settings (would’ve been one but a woman’s gotta make that $$$)

When I started this series, I thought I’d be leaving this book for later in the year since it’s a Christmas-themed book, but I just couldn’t wait for Colton’s story.  That man is just too endearing, I had to get his HEA.  While the theme of Christmas is woven throughout the book, it’s not the centerpiece of the story.

Colton learns that his music label is not impressed with his current album and challenges him to create new music or they will force him to work with outside songwriters.  He has a New Year’s deadline.

At the same time, Gretchen is tasked by her family to reach out to Colton to get him to be the face of their Whiskey brand.  Except what they don’t know is that they have a history.  One year prior they had a memorable evening after a mutual friend’s wedding and she left him with barely a goodbye.

What happens next is glorious reverse grumpy-sunshine goodness.  She is so dead-set against a relationship and he is Mr. Persistent.  His golden retriever personality, charm, and protective nature are a potent combination.  Especially when you are dealing with a family as vile as hers.  There was absolutely zero chance of her not falling head over heels for that man.

my expectations going in were low considering how much i didn’t like the previous one, but i actually think this might be the best one in the series, or a close tie with mack and liv’s story.

I loved The Bromance Book Club so when I saw that the series had a Christmas book I knew I needed to read it this year. Let me say, it was so cute. Gretchen being a grinch and Colton trying to make her fall in the love with the holiday was a very sweet premise and I appreciated how delicately Adams wrote about Gretchen's relationship with her family.

I loved that even though Colton is a musician I never have to read his lyrics. They just told me which songs were good and which were bad and I appreciated that. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic was very apparent and super cute until it got to be a bit old. After a while, the incessant grumpiness and optimism of Gretchen and Colton respectively felt a bit too strong and like they were digging their heels in.

I do wish this book was a little more Christmas-y. I felt there were a few small times Christmas was a thing, like when they went to see the Christmas lights and dance or when they decorated the tree, but I felt like a book that took place in a city like Nashville would have had a million fun Christmas things that could have been inserted for a bit more vibe.

Overall, though, I would recommend this book as part of your holiday reading next year.

I know it's not Christmas but I really like this series and I was excited that it was my turn on Libby.

This time it was Colton's turn to find love. I highly enjoyed his journey in finding the one.
I felt bad for Gretchen; she had a terrible family, which explained her behavior. I do admit that she annoyed me at first but I came to love her for Colton.

3.5 rounded up.

I’m so bummed! It was a great start and then? And then I’d read this plot before in another book. Of course it wasn’t the same but it went just like you’d assume and I just…really wanted it to not follow the formula, ya know?

The Bromance Boys can do no wrong in my eyes. I love all of them and the banter between them makes me cry laughing every time. I love the 'he falls first' trope and I love a man that sticks up for his girl to her family! Colton was so sunshiny and Gretchen is so grumpy and I think they were the perfect couple to have a Christmas book

My least favorite of the bromances. I didn’t like how pushy Colton was in trying to get Gretchen to go out with him. No means no, unless you are super hot and think she should definitely go out with you. 😑
Also, talk about self-sabotage! How many times is Gretchen going to run away from all her problems? Forget trying to talk about anything, I’ll just nope right out of here and ghost you.
And I really stopped caring about the bonus book within a book in the last book in this series, and for this book I just completely skipped the sections and didn’t feel like I missed anything
