It's pretty fascinating how the male lead I'm least excited to follow turns out being one of my favorites by the end. Colton was so obnoxious in the previous books, but he was so pathetically in love with Gretchen that I was all in. Maybe it was the Christmas setting. Maybe it was Gretchen always feeling like she was never enough for her family and wanting someone to tell her otherwise. It was a delight honestly. Ending felt a tad rushed, but I really loved this one.
The holiday version of the Bromance book club. It’s as funny as the rest of the series and another good audiobook for a road trip. Thanks to Midcontinent Public Library for have a free copy to borrow!
I have loved this series of novels...but this one disappointed me a bit. I love the characters and the snappy dialogue, and I love the cheeky premise of men using romance novels as manuals to better work on their relationships. In this one, however, a lot of the things that happened felt troublesome for me. I don't think the main character needed to force his love of Christmas on his love interest after she told him time and time again, it wasn't her thing. I really hate the idea that of course you'll like it if you just give it a chance. The love interest had a lot of trauma in her childhood that I still felt like was unresolved, but also was sort of confusing. It was never explained as to WHY everyone in her family treated her terribly. And, in the end, what was supposed to be a "grand gesture" from her, turned out to really just be her taking the role of the martyr, which didn't really sit right. I also felt like there were a ton of loose ends not wrapped up, and the novel excerpts were thrown in at strange times and then never revisited.
So, all in all, I did enjoy reading it...but felt like I wanted so much more.

Such a fun Christmas book & perfect addition to the Bromance Book Club. Colton's book was the one I was most excited about because he is the country music singer (although this book didn't give much details about being a musician or dating a musician) This book didn't actually have the book club in it, which I actually liked better. Also - love the appearance of the cheese man.
Full disclosure - I didn't read the excerpts of the romance novel in the book, I completely skipped them, I don't really care about the book within a book at all.

Cute holiday read. I appreciate the author uses platform to breakdown masculine stereotypes!
I love this series! This one is definitely one of my favorites in the whole thing!
The Bromance Book Club has a special place in my heart. I listened to the first book in the series while on a road trip with my husband, and I think it got him hooked on audiobooks – I love how audiobooks make reading more accessible to people! This group of fictitious men who read romance books (“the manuals”) are some of my favorite romance heroes, and Colton was no exception in A Very Merry Bromance, book 5 of the series.
This book starts out with Colton & Gretchen hooking up at Liv & Mack’s wedding, only to have Gretchen run out and insist on not becoming more with Colton. Fast forward a year, and while both have managed to avoid each other, there’s still tension between them. Both are at a professional crossroads in their respective fields - Colton is unsure about the next steps in his music career, and Gretchen is struggling to keep her immigration law office afloat while considering a move to DC. When Gretchen comes to Colton with a proposition to be the face of her family’s whiskey company, Colton sees this as his chance to convince Gretchen of what they could be.
This book really centers vulnerability, honesty and trust in relationships. Family dynamics and childhood trauma are also brought up in this book, so be sure to check CWs before reading. With that said, there were definitely moments when I related strongly to both Colton and Gretchen, and I was once again swept away by Lyssa Kay Adams’ writing. And - does it even need to be said? Andrew Eiden (aka Teddy Hamilton) is the perfect narrator for the audiobooks in this series.

Absolutely tore through this book in one sitting. What an adorably (and little sexy) Christmas read! I loved the characters and the antics. It felt like a warm little hug and really for me in the spirit. The perfect book to curl up next to the tree and enjoy. So, so cute. Great banter, thoughtful dialogue. 5/5 stars
