I was expecting more eeriness based on how it’s always been described. Also expected more sci-fi throughout the rest of the novel. But the writing was gorgeous and the monster’s story is heartbreaking. Frankenstein was a dick.

The creation of man is fascinating however the narration style and pace of this book is very odd.

Victor Frankenstein needs a good solid kick in the pants with soccer cleats. (Every meme you’ve seen on the internet about this book is gloriously true.)

I loved the monster and his humanity, in some ways he seemed more human than the other characters. The characters were all distinct, and I loved seeing the different views they held of one another. And I was glad to see the ending left open enough from readers to make their own judgments.
