I didn't really like Going Postal but this was much worse. It felt very half hearted.
The premise is good and I have a big interest in economics so I know there's potential for absurd jokes about money. Yet it seems Pratchett didn't know where to go with the plot and it all fell apart by the end.
There was a villain but he did nothing and served no purpose. I think Pratchett only included him because his books always include a villain.
There were golems in the book although I'm not sure why. Adora Belle was forgotten about and only appeared halfway through the book. She didn't do anything other than smoke and receive comments about her looks. Seriously, having smoking as a characters core personality trait is just bad writing.
Gladys just annoyed me and every time she appeared it was just to beat the same dead joke even further. The joke was funny the 1st time, but an absolute pain the 20th. The same is true for most of the side characters.

I read this book when I was about ten years old and fell in love with Pratchett's writing as a whole. This is a great second book if you are looking to get into any of the Discworld series. (Read Going Postal first.)

Going into this, i did not know that there was a first book and so, maybe that was why i was sometimes a little confused, in the beginning. All the characters are already established, so there is not much of an introduction but the story itself was, as far as I could tell, independent from the first part because i had no trouble following it.
As expected from Pratchett it's a pretty satirical take on economy and capitalism, all with the backdrop of a well-build fantasy world. It was funny, especially at the start there were a few times i had to snort out loud at the dry humor of moist van lipwig and how much it was apparent that he Really Did Not Want To Be Doing This.
Would definitely recommend, especially for when you're new to Pratchett (although, probably, you should start w the first book, going postal)
