A great birthday book for my 45th. Puts you right in the sandwich years state of mind. Thoughtful, but not nostalgic.

I was expecting this book to make me more/be more emotional than it was, but I thought the time travel aspect was interesting and also enjoyed that it made me more reflective of my own life. :)

A touching time-travel novel that explores topics of grief, love, and finding life satisfaction. While there are a few times when specific plot elements may have been fleshed out a bit more or when character names seemed to be thrown around without much context, this book was extremely touching and I think it did tackle these tough topics the way the author intended.
It did make me cry, and that was something the author intended as a means of catharsis, as she notes in her closing words at the back of the book. Certain threads of the plot, especially connections between past and present or consistency between timelines (things set up but never resolved) did get left behind in the frenzy of emotion and beautiful descriptions of New York City. However, it's a time travel book. Who said everything has to be consistent or explained?
