I want to give this a higher rating, but unfortunately it probably deserves a lower one. I enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong. I was entertained and loved reading it. However, it felt very rushed. I felt like it either could have been one book (with The Heir) or it could have been three books. I wish there had been more action and that it had been harder for her to send boys away. It all just went too smoothly. It just felt like the author became lazy on this one or was trying to get it done as fast as possible. I liked a lot of the characters and how it ended up. I just wish there had been more to make it more fleshed out.

I really loved the first three. And I understand but I really think Eady and Kile should have worked things out and ended up together. I felt like they had so much more of a connection and the other stuff kinda just came out of no where.

I loved seeing the character progression in this book. Honestly by the end I had no idea just how much I felt for those two characters and it literally had me in tears. Beautiful ending.

A big step up from book 4, but not entirely a return to form -- this book just does not provide the same tea as the original trilogy and the narrative is poorly constructed, and that was not even a strength of the first 3 books.

The ending couple of chapters seemed extremely rushed, and I didn’t like that she 1. Basically only stated through the entire book that Eadlyn had feelings for Kile up until 2 seconds before she kisses Erik, 2. That she brutally dumps Kile after telling him that she loves him 3. She then banishes him for a year - although that was their original deal for her to convince his parents to let him go or whatever, and 4. That her 2 minute romance with Erik overpowered the whole selection and basically ruined everything she tried to fix for the country.

Cried a ridiculous amount of times. Also on my period.
