This is a lovely book with more things about trees, especially beeches, than I ever thought could fill a book. Plus there are amazing photographs too.

Wright has a delightful sense of humor of the subtle, sly kind where if you aren't paying close attention you read right by it. Here is an example:

In Westphalia babies were said to come from the hollow of the beech. No stork involved.

There the beech is used to smoke their hams. No connection between babies and smoked hams.

Ha!

If you love trees and you love reading about trees, this is a book you shouldn't miss.
