3.5 ⭐️
Historical fiction,
paranormal,
ghostly,
romance,
murder investigation…

A girl who can see the dead in a historical mansion setting with courts and balls.
A murder and a race against Death.
An exploration of paranormal powers.
Gothic descriptions of ghosts.

The first 25% is so good. The premise has all of the promise for a great story. There’s horror descriptions accompanying Signa being able to see spirits. In the beginning, the writing is cleaner and less cliche.

But the writing in the last half was inconsistent.
The climax ending-scene was over the top and underwhelming at the same time.
The emotional moments didn’t hit you in the feels.
The end of the book loses its horror descriptions and vibes.
The epilogue- It seemed trivial to go back to being concerned with dance cards and “the season” after everything that happened.
Signa is a lot like Wolverine and she’s going to spend the summer preoccupied with gowns, dances, and society's expectations?

This put a big smile on my face. Once it got going, I couldn't stop.
It's UNBELIEVABLY horny (heterosexual) and got a bit steamier than I expected but still not explicit.
Ending is just a tad deus ex machina for my taste but oh well
