A story that debates authenticity and the fallible nature of memory. Kayta's response to being cut off from digital argumentation isn't unexpected, with how thoroughly intertwined with her life it is. The typos included are a nice touch, though I felt the story could have been a bit more fleshed out.

This was such a nice lil story, it left me wishing there was a whole series written around it. Pairing sci-fi elements with nature always has such cosy feelings for me and i loved the way it has been done here.

Easily my favorite of this author’s books.

Very interesting novella. Starts off quite slow and
really does not ramp up to some level of intrigue
until maybe 20 pages left, but then ramp up it does
in quite amusing and through-provoking ways.
Kind of makes me wish there was more story to be
had, but isn't that the accomplishment of the author
anyway?
Recommended.

Insightful and mildly unsettling.

Intriguing premise with no follow through. This felt like the first act of what should have been a three act plot. Where's the rest?!

The thing that astonishes me about Kowal (and Okorafor, for that matter), is that they are both extraordinarily good at establishing a detailed, imaginative, wildly different from our world and time scene. They do it quickly, too. A couple of pages in and near-future or far, you have the bones of the setting, the beginnings of cultural values established, and a character that is compelling in their tale telling. This novella is consistent in that tradition, and an interesting read.
