 Title: Searching for Dragons
 Author: Patricia C. Wrede

Series : The Enchanted Forest Chronicles #2

Genre:  Middle Grade Fantasy

Rating: 2.5/5
 Review:

As a child I loved the entirety of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. As an adult, I realize that the stories are most certainly a product of their time. With some offensive words (like G*psy) and comedic relief stereotypes it most certainly wouldn’t have been published in todays world.

With that said, however, I still enjoyed the second installment. The unique plays on traditional fairytales and folklore, along with the whimsical humor make the novel fun. Though I will admit that the second book seems far slower than the first, the writing seems to be better. The same writing is simplistic and straightforward, ideal for any growing middle schooler trying to hone their reading skills and move to more advanced series.

Over all, not ideal for adults in the least, a bit archaic but ideal for middle graders still finding their footing.

I quite like that Mendabar learned that not all princesses are empty-headed or ambitious in ways of marriage when he meets Cimerone. And I like that Cimerone learned to work with someone else and that she found someone who liked that she wasn't a normal princess.

This series still holds up for me so far, will need to see what books 3 and 4 have in store for me :)

Not as good as the previous story, this is still a delightful family friendly adventure where the Princess charges off and saves the day WITH the prince. A magical sword, and a battered old flying carpet play pivotal parts in this story about the power-hungry wizards and a threat to the Enchanted Forest.

In amongst this ramble we also meet up with giants, and a descendent of the fae creature "Rumpelstiltskin", and see old friends like Morwyn the witch.

Happy with this one and looking forward to the next.
