LOVED IT, definitely a five star read. Read it in less than a day, I literally couldn't put it down! Definitely gave me "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" and "The Final Girl Support Group" vibes. I was not expecting that ending, holy cow. Loved how it mentioned several movies, but mostly slasher films throughout, including but not limited to: Scream, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hush, Final Destination, Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, Disturbing Behavior, Creep, The Invitation, Election, Urban Legend and I Know What You Did Last Summer (yes, I made a list!) If you're a fan of scary movies like me this book is definitely for you! Why do I see myself being great at being a final girl??

This really reminds me of classic slasher films! I found most parts of this really good and it kept me interested and constantly guessing who the killer is. The writing style was fun and the characters were quite well established. I think the final reveal was perfect, but I was a bit confused about some parts of the ending. I think this would work really well as a series to continue the open ending and the questions left by it.

Well officially my first DNF I made it about 15% in and I just could not do it anymore.
If you’re super young looking for a in your face I’m hip to the times book right now…this is for you. But with all the cultural references if you’re looking to read this book outside of 2022-2023 you will be so distracted by the references that won’t hold up as time changes you will be lost and confused to what the plot actually is.

This was freaking.. EPIC. Alice being the only witness to the murder of her sister in a ~spooky~ cornfield on Halloween night, must now relive the worst night of her life in order to save her sister’s life. THAT is all you need to know to dive into this AMAZINGLY PERFECT spooky season (or all season) book.
I was literally obsessed from chapter one. Being a HUGE fan of Scream, scary movies, the “final girl” trope and spooky season in general, this book knew how to suck me right in. The twists just kept on coming, this was LITERALLY a page turner for me and I can 100% see myself recommending this a ton during this upcoming fall season and in general!
I will say, I did guess who did what but I couldn’t figure out why literally until near the very end. But even still, I genuinely enjoyed it. Which is saying a lot since I knew who done it haha.
I’ve seen some chatter about a sequel. Is that true? I don’t know. Do I hope it’s true? YES.
FOR FANS OF:
- 90s slasher flicks
- Final girl references, Scream style
- All of the spooky season vibes
