You know I love a London boy.

Not bad but not good, is the overall vibe of Match Me If You Can. I feel like to be a successful rom-com book both of the main characters have to be somewhat likeable and have chemistry which just wasn't the case here. 

The premise was good though. Tristan needs to marry to get his inheritance and Poppy is the matchmaker assigned to his case. Think Terms and Conditions but with a matchmaker. And that's about it.

The two main characters don't have enough depth for me and some of there backstory just doesn't make sense to me; how can an investment banker who works up to seventy hours a week take off for three days without any kind of thought at how this impacts his work performance? Furthermore, there is no chemistry between Tristan and Poppy - at least there wasn't any up to 42% when I bailed on the book. It's hard to believe that the two of them hit it off in the second half of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley for a free ARC in exchange for my review. It wasn’t awful but it really wasn’t good. The only two likeable characters were Jacinda and Ravi. The FMC Poppy was way too insecure and kept guilt-tripping herself for not babysitting her best friend, while the MMC Tristan was just plain rude and used the guise of being anxious to defend it. I’m also not a fan of Sandy’s writing style and the MCs falling in love was almost too unrealistic. Eh. I liked the overall plot of things though 🤷🏽‍♀️

Match Me If You Can is a enemies to lovers rom-com with closed door spice. It was a slow burn, which is the nature of the enemies to lovers trope, but the characters chemistry was real and I was rooting for them the whole book! Tristan (MMC), is a grumpy finance bro with a looming deadline whilst Poppy (FMC) is fuelled by the love of her job and her general positive outlook on life. This forbidden love, workplace romance is good. The cover art is perfect and the character development is wonderful. It was a sweet, easy read full of charm and laughs.
