I've long been a fan of Dean Koontz, but when Odd Thomas was released, he went straight to the top of my favorite authors' list. Odd Thomas is a brilliant book. The title character is so likable and normal that it makes him all the more extraordinary. The writing is fabulous, and the book moves along at break neck speeds. There's always a new twist around the corner. The side characters in this novel are just as quirky and interesting as Odd, and they add a whole new dimension to the novel. It's one of my absolute favorite books, and in my opinion, the pinnacle of Dean Koontz's career.

This is more like 3.5 or 3.75 stars. I had to push through a good portion of the book because the plot slowed to a crawl a number of times. The story was good, and I enjoyed it at the times where the plot picked up again. I round up to 4 stars for the rating, just because the good points outweigh the slow plot.

This was a great vacation read! It didn't take too much to get into, moved pretty quickly, and I didn't have to think too hard. I've never read Dean Koontz but plan to read the next in this series.

I liked this book even more than I thought I would. The narrator did a good job and my knowing how it would end didn't hurt my enjoyment.
