Started this because it's on the reading list for school and oh boi was I in for a challenge. Hawthorne really loves long sentences which you have to read again because you lost track of what he was talking about! That's why i read half of it in Bulgarian. But if you have trouble reading this imagine it's a telenovella because it kind of is. Ending sucked a bit.
p.s. What is going on with Hibbins

did not finish. could not stand the writing style. the author writes beautiful nature imagery and that’s the only points i’ll give him. interesting idea but could have been executed so much better
4 1/2 Stars. Although I was forced to read this book for school, I really enjoyed it. As is often the case for with me and older novels, some parts got a tad bit tedious; however, the emotion and poignancy of the novel made up for most that. I also greatly enjoyed the character Chillingworth. Hawthorne portrayed his maleficence quite effectively.
