Another high school read. Been too long to truly remember it, it probably deserves another read.
not as exactly what i expected after seeing Easy A... but great descriptive writing

Excellent narration and interesting story and themes given its historical context. It did babble on at points, especially in descriptions of Pearl. I wouldn’t have understood what was happening if it weren’t for the narrator’s good job, but this is down to it being an older text rather than anything lacking in the writing.

This is another one of those books I've told myself I'll read at some point but always forget about until, apparently, it's conveniently available to me as an audiobook. So thank god for those, I guess?
As for this particular one, it's not my favourite. I admit to spacing out more than once simply because the sentences were so difficult to follow and the descriptions were unnecessarily detailed in ways they really didn't need to be detailed. Which is a shame, really, since I liked the story and the moral questions it posed.
Granted, I don't understand the Puritan view at all since I come from a very secular society, but that also made it more fascinating, I guess? I don't agree with the majority of what they were saying, but it was fascinating to see just how much they believed in it.
So yeah. It was difficult to read and understand, and I wish that hadn't been the case, since I think it would have been a really good book otherwise.
