A fun story with an interesting premise but not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I definitely cared more about the characters by the end but at the start they were just annoying. Also the sister is thoroughly unlikeable and I don't think I felt the ending at all to be honest.

Fun. Cool premise, loved all the twists and turns. For the lost part loved all the character development, but tbh tella was annoying the whole time. Least approachable character and somehow the driving force? Everything else was perfect tho. Will definitely read the next one.

I’m speechless. The world of Caraval is so magical and full of mysteries and wonders. Reading this entire book I didn’t know who to trust or which way Scarlett was going to turn. Even though the book is written in the third person I didn’t mind it at all. Once you get to the end it all makes sense or does it…but be careful or you might go mad!

Got about 70 pages in, enough to know I didn't want to read further. Overwritten with baaaad descriptions, no real world building or character development, insipid protagonist. And I was so excited to read this one. Two stars, because I'd likely have carried on if not for the fact that I've got two library books waiting for me.

There isn’t a single character in this book that is likeable. The two main characters are both so obnoxious and the main male character is such a jerk. Throughout the book he makes these weird power moves over Scarlett. Specifically calling the main character a name that isn’t hers. Everyone seems to be swooning over that but it’s so disrespectful. He lies the entire book but she forgives him at the end because she “loves” him. How do you love someone you don’t even know?
