an extremely informative book filled with vivid stories from women around the globe… this book was truly eye-opening and inspiring for me. 

(deducted -0.25 for some descriptions of women that seemed to be told from a male-gaze and there were also a few weird caveats that were not necessary / seemed like the authors were trying to insert themselves too much into others’ narratives)

Decent information (although significantly outdated now, since it came out in 2009) and very important message, but it is predominantly a book for older white moderates & has quite a bit of problematic writing / tone.
