Trigger warnings: hostage situation, gun violence, physical violence, graphic descriptions of domestic abuse, mentions of child molestation, fire, menstruation, incarceration of a parent, emotional abuse, mentions of abortion, stabbing, blood.

Oof. This was definitely darker than I anticipated, but also extremely compelling. I loved the way that Nora's past knowledge came in handy in an emergency situation, and the ways in which her friendships impacted the situation. Nora's relationship with her sister was fantastic, and even though I struggled at times with how dark this was and I had to put it down and walk away for a little while, it was such a compelling story that I kept coming back because I HAD to know what happened next.

I really enjoyed this book about a girl who was forced to be anything but for her entire life. It was exciting and thrilling and dramatic and sad. A great YA thriller about a smart girl who finally becomes herself.

It's a quick book to read for a change of pace. I would recommend if you like murder podcasts vibes.
