Not bad for a "$5 bucks if you buy a drink at the cafe" Barnes and Noble special. It did what I needed to and offered some much needed distraction. Definitely YA, as an adult reader I had to suspend belief a bit at some things and occasionally the current timeline interactions made me wince 'cause, ugh manufatured drama 🙄.
I actually appreciated the backstory more, kind of a Heartbreakers gone bad thing going on there. Also wondering if the author is a Leverage fan...?
Anywho, will be picking up the next far-fetched installment because the entertainment value is definitely there.

I really enjoyed this. I thought this was gonna be a straightforward bank heist style story. Just a fight for survival, but it ended up being so much more than that. It was very dark and deep in a way YA usually isn't and I even found myself forgetting that this was a YA book.
I don't want to give away too much, but I really loved Nora and everyone she franken-friended.

Crying score: yes and you would too for a check.

It was a good read, i just flew through it. I liked the characters and i really liked the premise and the general idea of the story. However it features some very heavy topics yet puts emphasis on less important things. Sometimes the writing felt juvenile. I get that she was a kid when all that happened so she couldn't feel the full weight of everything and she's still only a teenager but she kinda just brushed over the most impactful parts that i think that could've been taken more seriously. What i really liked was that she kept a lot of her secrets and only revealed what she had to not just to other characters but also to us as readers. it felt very authentic.

my favourite parts were when iris used the guy's ignorance on the female body as a weapon against him and when nora told iris to bury her feelings deep and wes corrected her

The setting? Somewhat interesting. The plot? Quite fascinating. The characters? Can't say I cared for them. The writing? Not good.

So basically it comes down to the writing being repetitive, sort of "childish" (can't find the right word to explain it exactly), and quite cringe at times. Which sucks because it wasn't an awful plot to follow.

Brilliant book! I was hooked from the start. You can't stop reading it because you want to know what happens next and you're always on the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that
Raymond Keane didn't die in the end.

This had some dark stuff in it, so definitely check the trigger warnings. It was so interesting though! Both the timeline of the current situation and the trickle history of how the MC got to that point.

I hated the mother and wanted to bitch slap the friends for their response to some things that were beyond Nora's control (of course she would keep stuff like this from you, you have no right to be butt hurt when people with unpleasant pasts don't share). But the reactions were realistic, loathe as I am to admit it.

Actually, it was rather impressive writing that made me so angry over things not real people did to other not real people, when I think about it. Definitely going to check out others books by this author.
