I never thought I would find a Biblical tale intriguing or compelling but I was so wrong. I have read a few of her books and have liked them all but this one made my heart reverberate with its rhythm and history and also with the stars.

This was fine. The pacing felt very weird, the ending was pretty anticlimactic, and I feel like quite a few plot points were left as loose ends

This was a book 🤷🏾‍♀️ it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. I honestly am not sure why Salome and Vera/Nancys stories were combined. I’m not sure why the documentary elements were there, they felt super lazy. I think this would’ve been more interesting if Salome was the focus, or if the connection between her and the main story was more obvious, but honestly the main story just wasn’t interesting enough.

The Seventh Veil of Salome is a tragic story of both Vera & Salome. It is probably Silvia Moreno-Garcia's weakest work in my opinion but a good novel nonetheless. Taking place in the atmospheric Los Angeles & hollywood. A likeable & complex female character facing both misogyny & also racism. We see her story alongside that of Salome, a Jewish princess from the new testament- a role that Vera is playing. Both compelling stories but the pacing in the middle was a real drag for me. A good novel from Moreno-Garcia but not her best.
