Fast, exciting read. I was hooked immediately. Characters were easy to root for, the romance was believable with good chemistry, and the plot didn’t drag nor did it feel too predictable to where it would cheapen the development. I’m excited to read the next installment in the series.

Dual POV, third person narration. Relatively strong character development allowing for the reader to truly champion the protagonist. The world building left some description to be desired in order to truly picture the setting of Ithicana and The Bridge. I’m looking forward to the development of some characters -both their relationships with others and the revelation of further backstory -in the sequel. I LOVE the representation of strong female warriors who don’t seem to be questioned based on gender.

Aren and Lara are the perfect enemies to lovers to enemies recipe. I genuinely enjoy when a male MC ‘falls’ first and I appreciated that he was not naive to Lara’s plotting, making his intentions and feelings seem genuine. I want to know more about how Lara’s upbringing has inhibited her trust in Aren as some of her omissions seemed unnecessary and confusing at times. Further character development on her part will be intriguing to watch as it unfolds in book 2.

Wow. The suspense of the book was almost too much to handle. This book was incredible. I'll be reading the other books this author writes and has written.
