My first audiobook! An excellent choice, if I do say so myself. Of course, I couldn’t help but compare it to the movie and, I must say, this is an instance in which I like the movie better. But it’s almost exactly the same, which is wonderful! Just the few small changes here and there that made this a 4.75-star listen in comparison to the 5-star watch.

This abridged version contains little more than the movie. Buttercup is given more depth (but also is made more shallow) and the Zoo of Death adds one more adventurous scene.

I absolutely love this story. It’s such a light hearted, witty, and adventurous classic. I appreciate the abbreviated version as it was concise yet still conveyed the excitement and adventure of the narrative. I forgot how humorous the characters are! Loved it!

A fun and quick read. I love the movie, so I wanted to pick up the book. It was nothing like what I was expecting, and it made me love the film adaptation even more. I wasn't expecting to basically just read the movie frame by frame, but that's what happened. I was hoping for a little more, but it was still a light and fun nostalgic read. I definitely fell for the opening prank that this book is the abridged version of another book to the point that I went hunting for this S. Morgenstern to read the full version.

One of the rare instances when the movie is (way) better than the book. Stick to the movie!
