Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The art in this novel was absolutely beautiful and the story was a joy to read. I really liked how soft and subtle the story developed, and how the characters interacted with one another in a way that felt realistic. I also really liked the random aquatic information, I didn't think I'd be learning too! I'm really in love with the characters, and the little salamander, and I can't wait to read more from this series!

This was a cute and lighthearted sapphic story. I really liked all the cute reptiles, amphibians and fish being a part of the story - always great to see this group of animals get some love. Nothing much happened yet in this first volume but I liked that (it seemed like) the characters didn't struggle so much with their queer identity. I'm curious to see if that extends to society in general being cool with it, which would surprise me in a manga. Will check out the next volumes too.

really sweet and funny! so far, a very slow build and none of the 'but she's a girl' trope.

This review covers all 9 volumes of the series.

Overall, it was a very sweet story. The artwork is very pretty, and I love the artistic flair of the salamanders and aquarium aesthetic over important story beats, making it feel slightly surreal and dreamlike.

I think it's not quite right to expect this to be a romance story, though. This is very much a story about loneliness, and while the themes resonated deeply with me, I found myself wishing for a little bit more of the romance angle. As something labeled as a "yuri" or "girls' love", I expected a little more. If this hadn't had a yuri tag on it, I wouldn't have thought it was supposed to be a romance at all. Instead, it almost felt like it danced around the idea without committing to it. Stories about friendship are great and wonderful, but when I pick up a story tagged as yuri, I expect a little bit of romance, at the very least.

Still, this was a very lovely story that again, resonated pretty well with me, and I would recommend it. If you're looking for a more romantic story and you want something similar in mood or feel, though, I would recommend Milk Morinaga's Girl Friends instead.

I sure am yearning! Gives me the same feeling Liz and the Blue Bird does, which is the highest compliment I can give something.
