I truly liked the setting on this book and getting a look into the lives of the Amana colonies - a mostly overlooked piece of history.
I really had a problem with Jancey's repeated rehashing of all the character flaws of one of her suitors, then continually saying that maybe separation would work their problems out. Really? Does any woman with common sense or reliance on God really believe that? I wanted to shake her.
Overall though, I liked the general growth Jancey showed (minus the blind spot above) in her relationships with God and those around her and the insight into the lives of the Amana believers.
