Definitely can see why this is a classic. Certainly was a masterful telling of a real-life crime and will stick with me. But there’s a lot of extra in the second half that frankly detracted from the main story, and lost me several times.

I first read this book over a decade ago and I remember loving it. This time around, I enjoyed it a lot, and I can see how it became so famous - Capote's writing and storytelling is excellent. This true crime story is almost unbelievable in how (almost) random the motive ended up being. I was drawn into the lives of the victims and the perpetrators, and had a difficult time putting the book down, even though the pace and writing style is extremely slow and drawn-out. This book is a classic for a reason.

Wait, WHAT?!?!
This story ACTUALLY HAPPENED?! I don't know how I completely missed that detail, but this book was so awesome that it led me to Google some questions...and discover that it's not fiction at all, but a fictional account of something that actually transpired.
I'm a dummy for not knowing that. But Capote is a freaking genius.
Oh yah, and let's talk about his writing style. It's gorgeous. Capote reaches deep into your brain and makes you pay ATTENTION while he's crafting this tale.
Loved it. Makes me want to watch the Capote movie, actually.

I finally finished this one. It was long, very descriptive and quite tedious at times. But I liked it anyway and am very interested in seeing Capote and Infamous now.
