I finished this book fairly quickly, just like I did with We Were Liars. This series usually has me stuck not knowing what to do afterwards. I even read through the acknowledgments too and I never do that, I just didn't want it to be over. I would love for this author to come out with another book, wrapping up things for Cadence, Carrie, and the other Sinclairs. I am not hard to please, and I know a lot of people are trying to say difficult things about these books but if it's not for you, it's not for you. The girls that get it, get it & the girls that don't, don't. That's really it. Thank you for this E. Lockhart.

any book that ends with a rapist dead automatically gets at least 3 stars

c'était bien mais ça casse pas trois pattes à un canard. assez mid. et j'ai pas trop aimé le dernier chapitre (après c'est peut-être parce que je m'endormais de ouf en le lisant mais on ne le saura jamais...)

I am part of a very restrict group that enjoyed We Were Liars more than Family of Liars.
I chose this prequel as my summer reading, and it was rather entertaining. However, I feel like the real story began to unfold towards the end of the book. Moreover, as I reader, I felt rather insulted by the cheap tricks employed by the author to create a sense of shock.
SpoilerWhy did the author lead the reader to believe that Bess killed Pffef? The sisters knew the real killer, and Carrie was telling this story to her son, so why mislead the reader? In We Were Liars, it was understandable why the reader was kept in the dark about the true events at the island given that Candence was also clueless, but that wasn’t the case in this book, so it deeply bothered me
, hence the 3 stars.

I read this only because, I had enjoyed We Were Liars. I could have lived without it. I was an ok story. I either saw the twists or really didn’t care about them. I felt long winded. It could have ended a hundred pages sooner. I don’t have negative feelings for it, just meh feelings. I gave it two stars because I caught myself wishing it would just end already. Not the way I want to feel about my books.
