Carrie Fisher is so funny and has so many punchy lines - Wishful Drinking ends with a zinger that I will be laughing about for ages. I appreciate how forthright she is about her struggles with addiction and bipolar disorder. Her choice to use her platform to combat the stigma for this two things is respectable and well-done. The thing that keeps me from rating this higher is that I know Wishful Drinking was originally a show, and it does not fully transition into a book format, even in an audiobook (although that is the format I recommend consuming it in).

I can’t remember the last time I read a book in one sitting like this, but Carrie Fisher’s writing is delightful. If she was less self aware or more self serious this memoir wouldn’t work at all. But she expertly toed the line of being honest about mental health and addiction while still laughing at some of the more ridiculous parts of her story.

An entertaining and extremely likeable memoir. Carrie is very funny and I enjoy her writing style. A lot of hard stuff in here but she handles it with humor and grace. A good time.

I love her sense of humor and I’m very drawn to people that are real and own their shit. That makes her a hero to me.  I loved the book. Some doesn’t age well, but like Carrie would care about that. I just wish it was longer. Also did the audiobook and highly recommend because her reading her life and her accents as well as her impression of her mom is well worth it.
