I wish I would've read the book before I watched the Netflix show. I will say the Netflix series followed the book very closely.

Wow, that ending.  I did not see that last twist at all.  Overall a good suspenseful thriller with a hint of paranormal (if you’d call it that).  Typical aggravating characters when there is a love triangle/affair.  That ending though.  That’s going to sit with me for a while.

So, that ending. I really didn't like it. It stirred up some major emotions in me! So, my original thought process was to give this 3 stars. This book was so hyped up and I felt like it was a disappointment for me. Here is my reasoning:
SpoilerI much prefer thrillers where the situations could technically happen in real life. I guess I'm just a weirdo like that. This weird paranormal situation was not my taste at all. I also didn't like that there was this big major secret twist revealed in the last like 5 pages. Personally, I was perfectly happy with this book having the "Gone Girl" twist. Or, even if somehow Louise was actually the "bad guy" in this situation..
. This book also took me much longer to get through than I anticipated as well. All that being said, I was originally going to give this book three stars.

Then, I thought about it some more and decided to bump it up to 4 stars. If a book can provoke that much emotion in me to where I'm going on an actual rant to my husband, then I really think the book did its' job. I may not have cared for the ending, but it was definitely a shock factor. And for that, I give this book 4 stars.
