This was basically like Twilight for adults. I enjoyed it as an easy read but there was nothing really groundbreaking about it and it probably felt a bit bland at times for me because ive read some pretty unique vampire fantasies lately.
I did think it was interesting to reflect on my feelings about Twilight though because i often look back on my enjoyment of that series with shame and yet i was a teenager and Twilight was my first experience of a vampire romance or indeed a paranormal romance of any kind. It kind of opened doors for me so why do i feel shame about my then enjoyment of it? Yeah there’s better out there and the movies suck but i didnt know that then. So i guess this book taught me not to be so hard on teenage me’s reading choices and that’s pretty admirable.

3.5 stars, rounding up - why doesn't GR allow 1/2 stars!?
This was not a perfect book, but it sure was a whole lot of fun! Reminded me quite a bit of the earlier Sookie Stackhouse books, in a good way.
