I was expecting a book only about the tides but instead I found a lyrical book with gorgeous prose not only about the tides but also the cultural conversations and tie-ins to myths and legends. Beautiful.

"Every morning, I look out of the house at the tide rising in the bay. I am witnessing unfelt by me. The world being dragged to a stop. The spin of time seeping outwards towards the final entropy. All will be quiet in the end."

So dry. I thought this book might give me some facts about creatures and plants amongst the seashore but this was more philosophical. There weren’t as many animal facts as I’d have hoped (although I did learn about how crabs reproduce which was cool!)
